Sportsbooks

There are over six hundred sportsbooks that you can choose to play with (as of mid 2006). The Sportsbook Review rating service gives an A or A+ rating to only 14 of them. Those sportsbooks graded A or A+ are honest, financially stable books with top notch customer support. You can be sure that all links to sportsbooks from the Greencapper are to A or A+ sportsbooks with no exceptions!

I have been playing online for 10 years now and cannot overly emphasize the importance of using a quality sportsbook. The links that I provide are specifically to grade A books which I have found excel at handling parlay wagers. Short reviews of my favorite sportsbooks can be found on my sportsbook review page.

What is a Parlay? A parlay is a combination wager. Instead of wagering on the outcome of a single game, you wager on a combination of two or more possible games. All of the games in the parlay must win for you to win your wager.

Round robins are a popular way to play parlays. See the Definitions page for more details.

How much the parlays pay differ from site to site. This is one of the reasons it is important to choose a quality sportsbook.

Why Should I Play Parlays? Small investments can turn into great rewards. You can win a lot while risking smaller amounts when you play parlays. However, the house odds on parlays are higher than straight bets. This is why you must understand the best ways to play if you want to end up ahead in the long run.

Parlays are not for players who cannot pick at least 53% ATS. The ROI on parlays offer better return than straight wagers once you can hit over 55% consistently. (See Definitions page for explanations of ATS and ROI). If you are unable to pick 50% ATS over the long haul, the greater house odds will cause you to lose your funds more quickly. Be honest with yourself regarding your handicapping ability before you try to win with parlays!

There are many ways to play parlays. Some are far more profitable than others. See the Parlay Strategies section for more details.

Sportsbook Review Parlays can be tough to profit at when using some sportsbooks. This is because the house edge on parlays is much higher at some sportsbooks. If you are going to play parlays it is vital that you choose a book that offers lower takeout (better payouts).

See my Sportsbook Review page for recomendations.

Parlay Calculator Payouts can be fairly standard on pointspreads (football, basketball). For instance a 3 team football parlay may pay you 6:1. It can get complicated when playing money lines.

See my Parlay Calculator page for instructions on how to calculate parlay payouts.
